Children up to age 5 and their parents or caregivers. This program includes two stories and several songs. Children should be able to sit attentively throughout the 30 minute program.

Children, birth-24 months and their parents or caregivers. Books and Babies lasts roughly 20 minutes, and includes songs, fingerplays, and a story.

Talking, walking bookChildren’s Chapter Book Discussion Group

3rd Wednesday of the month, 4-5pm

Mrs. Parker or Mrs. Currier will share the most recent book that she has read. The discussion will be open for any chapter books that readers choose to talk about. For more information, contact the Children’s Room.

The Children’s Room occasionally holds a Bedtime Math series of events for school-age children. Bedtime Math is a program whose aim is to “help kids love numbers so they can handle the math in real life.” Measuring, jumping, building, racing, creating… you never know what you’ll be doing in one of these fun programs! To find out if there is a Bedtime Math program scheduled in the near future, contact Mrs. Parker (207-892-1908).

The Maine Student Book Award (MSBA) is a statewide program designed for students in grades 4-8. To get in on the action, sign-up in the Children’s Room or contact Mrs. Parker (207-892-1908).

Super DeweySummer Reading Programs

The Children’s Room has fun and engaging Summer Reading Programs for a variety of ages! With a wide range of events– book reading, arts and crafts, guest performers, a hidden rubber chicken, and much more– running June through August, kids will be excited to join in.

Tea cupsTea @ the Library

The library regularly hosts an informal tea in the library meeting room. Folks are encouraged to drop in, share conversation, tea, and goodies. All ages are welcome, and the atmosphere is quite relaxed (no need to dress up, unless you wish). Our Teas are always on a Tuesday from 1:30-2:30pm.
