Maine Student Book Award

The Maine Student Book Award (MSBA) is designed to expand literary horizons of students in grades 4-8 by encouraging them to read, evaluate, and enjoy a selection of new books and to choose a statewide favorite by written ballot each spring.

If I’m in grades 4-8, what can I do?

Readers at the Windham Public Library who have read three or more of the titles on the MSBA list are eligible to vote for their favorite title here at the library. The Children’s Librarian, Mrs. Parker, will add up the votes and submit them for the statewide tally. The students’ top choice from the reading list is announced by the MSBA Committee on April 2nd. The library will have an ice cream party shortly afterwards for all the Windham Public Library readers who participated. The coming-year’s MSBA list will be available at the party and copies of the books will be available for circulation. The library purchases copies of all the MSBA books, so there are plenty of titles to choose from! To get in on the action, sign-up with Mrs. Parker.
